The problem
Your staff didn't get into care to spend their day doing admin.
Recording, updating systems, searching for information, preparing reports and keeping evidence organised are all important.
But when information has to be entered repeatedly across different places, administration starts taking time away from the people staff are there to support.
Too much admin
Repeated recording, paperwork and manual updates.
Information everywhere
Important information spread across journals, documents, plans and systems.
Less time with people
The more time spent managing information, the less time for relationships, activities and meaningful support.
The old way

- Repeat
- Search
- Copy
- Report
The SSG Journal way

Why this matters
The admin problem is real.
Technology should not create more administration. It should help remove it.
The Department for Education has named reducing unnecessary workload and administrative burden as a priority, and recognises the potential for AI to support case recording.
65%
of the average social worker's working week was spent on a computer or doing paperwork.
29 hours
of an average 45-hour working week were spent on computers or paperwork.
11 hours
were spent face-to-face with children, young people, parents and carers.

Measure the difference in your own organisation.
Our response
We build the system around you.
Every organisation works differently. SSG Journal fits around your people, processes and terminology — instead of forcing your team to work around complicated software.
Your way of working
Configure services, people, roles, permissions and workflows around your organisation.
One record
Capture information once and connect it to the right people, plans, actions, evidence and reports.
Less repetition
Turn one piece of information into useful outputs without entering the same thing again.
One record. Many outcomes.
Speak or type once. SSG Journal drafts the record, you check it, and the confirmed information flows to the right places.
AI supports professionals. It does not replace professional judgement.

Built in Manchester, UKAbout us
Technology should work for people.
SSG Journal was created from a simple observation: people working in care, education and support organisations spend a huge amount of time managing information.
That information matters. But the system managing it shouldn't get in the way of the people it exists to support.
We build practical technology around real-world teams. SSG stands for Software Solution Group.
We're working with early pilot organisations. We'll share genuine feedback here once it's ready, never invented reviews.

What is SSG Journal?
A professional journal and administration platform. You record once, and SSG helps organise that information into journals, actions, evidence, timelines and reports.
Who is SSG Journal for?
People-focused organisations — children's homes, supported accommodation, residential care, youth services, schools, colleges, charities and community organisations.
Does SSG Journal replace our existing system?
It can, but it doesn’t have to. Some organisations start by using it alongside what they already have, then move over when they’re ready.
Can we migrate our existing data?
Yes. We can help import spreadsheets, documents, PDFs and structured data, with a validation and review step before anything goes live.
Can we export our data?
Yes. Your data belongs to you, and you can take it out whenever you need to.
How does the AI work?
AI helps transcribe, summarise and organise what you record, and highlights patterns for review. Everything it drafts is clearly labelled and checked by a person before it is saved.
Does AI make safeguarding decisions?
No. AI can highlight areas for professional review, but people remain responsible for every safeguarding and consequential decision.
How is customer data separated?
Each organisation has its own workspace. Data is separated at the organisation level, and access within it is controlled by roles.
Can our organisation customise terminology?
Yes. We build around the language your team already uses, so the system feels familiar from day one.
Can we start with one service?
Absolutely. Many organisations start small, learn what works, then expand.
How does implementation work?
We start with a conversation about your current workflow, set up your workspace and roles, help move key information across, and support your team as they get started.
Can SSG Journal integrate with other systems?
Import and export are available now. Further integrations are on our roadmap — tell us what you use and we’ll talk it through.
